My Word’s graphic designers are meeting this demand with our series of attractive souvenir and achievement certificates, recording voyages at sea, visiting scenic or horrific locations, passing that examination, surviving a ghost tour, bungee jumping, competing in the event of all kinds.

We also produce off-beat postcardsw and prints of various sizes, such as our irreverent Two-Headed Tasmanian cards.

Produced in Tasmania by Tasmanians, they strike back at a history of uncharitable jokes about Tasmanians by some mainland Australians (like the old jokes about other islanders like the Irish and Newfoundlanders) and show that Tasmanians are mature enough to laugh at themselves.






And, for sending back-handed greetings, there is our Tasmanian convict Isle of the Dead picture postcard … “Wish You Were Here!”.

The eerie Isle of the Dead, of only one hectare (10,000 square metres), is near the infamous former Port Arthur Penitentiary, where thousands of convicts from Ireland, Britain, the United States and Canada were incarcerated.

It was the burial place for a few local free settlers, victims of shipwrecks and some 2,000 convicts, wrapped in sailcloth and covered with quicklime – six or seven to a grave.
